Sommerloch Openair, Aarau
Fusing the creative space between zeitgeist and nostalgia, Laskaar is an original musical and visual artist, who voices the front of the new creative millenial generation.
A singer with soul, pain and pride in his voice. An artistic nomad moving freely between Zürich, Marrakech, New York & the most diverse of genres with a powerful softness. A colleague of the eclectic, forward-looking future Soul artists like FKA Twigs and James Blake, his music rubs shoulders with the fine nuances of Nineties R&B à la Sade, while being illuminated by the dazzlingly beautiful avant-gardism of Björk.
Laskaar rarefies a complex strata of sound with his gentle yet powerful baritone, creating a uniquely fascinating sonic world that feels dark, liquid & ethereal.
Having already done backing vocals for Nelly Furtado and Tom Odell, the singer with andalusian roots began his solo career with a recorded cover of Röyksopp and Robyn's »Monument«. The cover version thrust him into the international spotlight, which in itself is remarkable as the song featured only his voice. The a capella remix captivated music and fashion blogs online, catching him a contract with the respected PIAS label in the process.
