In "SUNBURN," his new and most personal work to date, musician and actor Dominic Fike, best known from the hit HBO series "Euphoria," explores his family history. With his hometown at the center, he recounts his childhood and teenage years in Naples, Florida. Inspired by the sound of his favorite bands at the time, such as Jack Johnson, Blink-182 and Red Hot Chili Peppers, combined with contemporary Y2K nostalgia, Fike's songs make alternative and indie hearts beat faster.
With his hit "3 Nights", the musician reached #1 on Billboards Alternative Charts in September 2019. The lo-fi sound between rap and sunny singer-songwriter tunes à la Jack Johnson, strongly reminds of the feel-good punkers of Sublime. The sensitive, snotty attitude hits the zeitgeist. But Fike's career would not have happened by a hair's breadth: Before his musical breakthrough, he was sentenced to house arrest due to a police provocation. During this isolated time he worked intensively on his music. Barely on the loose, the release of "Don't Forget About Me" on Soundcloud followed.
After the EP with tracks like the aforementioned "3 Nights" or "Babydoll" a viral hype broke out around his person and the competition of the labels began. Columbia Records made the running and after Fike's music disappeared from all platforms, the label re-released "Don't Forget About Me" in an impressive way. Fike's debut album, "What Could Possibly Go Wrong," followed in July 2020, and he was repeatedly heard as a guest on songs by well-known artists such as Halsey and Justin Bieber.
