Over the last decade, The 1975 established themselves as the defining band of their generation with their distinctive aesthetic and unique sound. In the process, the English rockers played with genres as diverse as glossy pop, anarchistic punk, gritty garage rock, electro-funk and country.
Released in October 2022, the band's fifth studio album, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, was greeted with effusive praise: The FACE called it an album of tremendous melodies, impeccable production and sincere romance, and Rolling Stone vowed that it would put the band back at the forefront of 2020s pop-rock.
The release gave the band their fifth consecutive number one album in the UK. The 1975 were also named "Best Rock/Alternative Act" at the 2023 BRIT Awards.
