As a 14-year-old, Zak Abel was already writing his own songs and distributing the associated videos on YouTube. In 2014, the Brit finally signed a record deal and met the influential music producer Joker. Zak and Joker released a four-track EP in 2015, followed shortly by Zak's solo project "One Hand On The Future," on which he collaborated with Tom Misch on "Beautiful Escape" and Kaytranada on "Say Sumthin."
Emboldened by these early collaborations, Zak felt ready to release his debut album "Only When We're Naked" in 2017. With it, he channeled his creativity into pop spheres for the first time while noticeably improving as a songwriter. He probably wouldn't have been asked to write hits for Kygo, Avicii, R3hab & ZAYN, Paloma Faith and John Legend otherwise as a result.
Zak Abel has found his musical blend in soulful vocals with R&B and pop elements. The 2021 release "Be Kind" made the AirPlay charts in several European countries and the Top 30 HOT AC in the US. This set the decisive direction for his upcoming second album. In addition to his music, Zak is also an ambassador for the mental health charity CALM and speaks openly about issues related to this topic.
