Matthew Hegarty's music can't be pigeonholed. Sometimes the British songwriter sticks to acoustic folk, but then another song calls for dramatic electronic sounds, and then the guitar-driven rock breaks through again. Nevertheless, his works always sound homogeneous, not least because they are held together by a joy of melodies and distinctive vocals.
