It will soon be 22 years since Sum 41 released their debut album "All Killer, No Filler". At a time when Tony Hawk was skating across the screen in almost every teenager's room, bands like Sum 41 provided the soundtrack for a generation. "Fat Lip" or "In Too Deep" are immortal anthems that immediately transport you back into a wormhole of nostalgic feelings. Since then, six more studio albums by the formation around singer Deryck Whibley have been released, all of which made it into the Swiss charts. The current album "Order in Decline" was released in 2019.
The band's early musical style is often compared to Blink-182 and Green Day, due to the catchy melodies and humour in both bands' works. Sum 41's musical genre is controversial among fans, as the band has a complex combination of different musical styles and a much more mature, serious and heavy sound in later albums. With over 15 million records sold worldwide, a Grammy nomination, 2 Juno Awards (7 nominations) and a Kerrang! award, Sum 41 is quite simply a rock band at heart - uncompromising and honest, despite all the sub-genres that are so pure within themselves. This without any intention of slowing down.
